After matriculating from high school, ALYSSA went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied Journalism and Mass Communication and graduated. She also holds minors and certificates in Asian American Studies and Gender and Women’s Studies.

HUI St. Louis-based News Writer and Health Journalist specializing in health, medical research, caregiving, and wellness. She has been working at Dotdash Meredith, Freelance since joining the team in January 2022. Her intention is to deliver accurate, truthful, and essential information to assist everybody makes informed decisions to live healthier lifestyles. ALYSSA is also a multi-faceted media and communications professional as a news reporter and journalist with more than four years of experience.

Previously, she worked as a news reporter and Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) for News Channel 20 and Fox Illinois. She reported on over 300 stories—camouflaging health, policy, public health, wellness, education, and senior caregiving—with the goal of informing and educating readers across platforms.

She also interned at WMTV NBC15 in Madison while in UW-Madison. While there, ALYSSA worked on various stories from rallies to E.coli bacteria closing down local beaches. Later, she shifted to WKOW ABC 27 News as an intern in January 2020. There she broadcasted stories in the 5 and 6 o’clock newscasts during the weekday. Her honored newscast includes that on how the Madison Metro Transit was keeping passengers and drivers safe after a bus driver tested positive for COVID-19.

She was then chosen for the reporting fellowship with WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina in March 2020. Hui was one of the 12 college students in the nation to be chosen for the program.

Away from work, she enjoys meeting new people, running, traveling, eating at restaurants, consuming time with her friends and family, and her journalism career.
