John Volanthen Tham Luang cave rescue
He was one of the cave divers that volunteered to help out in the Tham Luang cave rescue. In June and July 2018, a junior football team was rescued from the Tham Luang Nang Non cave. The team had twelve team members, aged eleven to sixteen, and their assistant coach. On June 23rd they had entered the cave after their football practice session was over. Shortly afterward heavy rainfall flooded the cave system and made them get trapped in the cave.
Efforts to locate the group raised an alarm after two weeks of o communication. The cave rescue time go informed and tried to find their way to find the twelve missing people. They were not enough and had to expand into a massive operation amid intense worldwide public interest and involving international rescue teams. On 2 July after he long and deep search John and Richard Stanton found the group alive on an elevated rock about 4 kilometers from the entrance of the cave.
They had to discuss ways they could use to rescue the group and they had plans of maybe to wait for the floodwaters to subside by the end of the monsoon season months later, teaching them basic underwater diving skills to enable their early rescue or to wait until a new entrance to the cave was found or drilled. They had to hasten to avoid being caught by the next monsoon rain. Between 8th and 10th July, the coach and all of the boys have rescued from the cave by the team.
