He was dating Kim Wall and they had prepared to host a farewell party on the night Kim disappeared. On August 10, 2017, she got a text from Peter Madsen about an interview she wanted to have with him. The two had met once before so she decided to meet with him and told ole that it will just take her some hours to meet up with the engineer again. He said that Kim used to be afraid to go on a trip in a submarine but at the same time she used to be fascinated with people who are dedicated to something.
On that same night at around 8:30 p.m, Kim texted Ole jokingly saying that she is alive btw then added she was going down into the water adding an I Love you a message. She also said that Peter bought coffee and cookies though in her texts. She was not back as she was expected. On August 11, 1:45 a.m she had not shown up and he opted to inform the police about a missing person. However, it was too late as she was already dead.
Between 21 August and 29 November, her parts were found in different locations around the area. Madsen was arrested and given sentenced to life imprisonment on 25 April 2018 by Copenhagen City Court.
